As a child, I spent a few years in Louisana with my grandmother. Those were some of the fondest years of my childhood, mostly because I had the opportunity to spend time with my loving and wonderful grandmother. My time with my grandmother in Louisiana not only has had a huge impact on me as a child, but it also influences my cooking today. I love my grandmother and always think of her whenever I make American-Southern dishes.
A few months ago, my friend, Yasmina, and I had a food stall at the IXDS Summer Party during Berlin Design Night. We decided to take the American-Southern route and serve gumbo and cornbread! We made and served 180 portions, had loads of fun and had lots of learnings from our food adventure. In thinking back on it, I think my grandmother would be proud!
